Postpositions
Hindi uses postpositions — small words that come after the noun — instead of English-style prepositions. Here are the most common ones:
| Hindi | Roman | English | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| में | mein | in | घर में (in the house) |
| पर | par | on | मेज पर (on the table) |
| से | se | from / with | दिल्ली से (from Delhi) |
| को | ko | to (object marker) | उसे किताब दो (give the book to him/her) |
| के लिए | ke liye | for | आपके लिए (for you) |
| तक | tak | until / up to | शाम तक (until evening) |
